Colne shop has alcohol licence suspended

The shop has had is alcohol licence revoked.

A Colne convenience store has had its alcohol licence revoked after being found to have illegally sold alcohol to underage shoppers.

Crown Food & Wine, on Albert Road, Colne, has had its alcohol licence suspended for two months for selling alcohol to a 15-year-old female during The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival last August.

Pendle Council said:

"During the investigation, which was carried out by Pendle Borough Council’s Licensing Team, with support from Lancashire Police, other breaches of the licence were also found, including possessing alcohol for unauthorised sale, unauthorised licensable activities and trading beyond licensable hours."
David Whipp, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said:

“This is an example of what we do when breaches of licenses are made and shows how hard our officers are working to keep Pendle and its residents safe.

Action has been taken and the owner of the premises has also been given measures he must put in place prior to the suspension being lifted.”
